How Do You Know if You Should Re-pipe?

Re-piping is a huge decision. You want to know the when, hows and the whys of re-piping before you make the decision to have it done.
Pipes are usually supposed to last 25-50 years, depending on how youve maintained them. The first thing you should do is learn a little about general piping maintenance. This doesnt mean that you need to know how to fix things, just how to take care of them.
Buy some quality liquid cleaning supplies and tools. Dont ignore your pipes but dont obsess over them either. Most problems are caused by checking them every few years when you it should be every few months.
Many people wait too long or for a major problem before they start caring for their pipes. To avoid this look for the following things; low water pressure, yellow water or discolored water coming out, bitter taste, or if your plumbing is leaking.
The above were just a few signs that you just might need to re-pipe. But you still might be asking the question why do I need to re-pipe? Cant I just clean it or have someone else come in and do it for me? Well, sometimes we might choose to do that to save a little money but in the long run you might be doing just the opposite.
From avoiding re-piping, many have had pipes burst that flood their homes. This could have been avoided if they would have re-piped. Re-piping could save you the hassle and lose of personal property.
Re-piping helps you get rid of those nasty unwanted smells, bitter tastes from the water, and the embarrassing yellow coloring of your water. It can also add value to your home when you are trying to sell it. People who know how important piping is will look at new piping as a plus.
If you are suffering from any of the above concerns get a hold of a local plumber that is experienced and that you can trust. They will come and look over your pipes and tell you if you have any major issues or concerns. It may just end up saving you some money.
