By: Ray Walberg

Europe is a dream travel destination for most Americans. Here are some tips to help you plan your European holidays.
Americans love to travel to Europe to experience the differences in culture. Much of Western civilization is derived from European history, including our holidays and customs. So it a European tour is something that most people want to experience at least once in their lives.
Fortunately with the European Union, travel in Europe is easier than ever. The Euro has replaced national money systems in most nations and the rail system across Europe makes for very easy border crossings.
There is so much to see in Europe it may be difficult to decide where to visit. Many people are content to spend their time on the beaches of Marseille, France, or the Costat Blanca in Spain. Others are booking pilgrimage trips to religious sites such as Lourdes, France, or the Vatican. True romantics love to explore the castles of Germany while nature lovers enjoy the wilderness of Scandinavia. After all, Europe is an entire continent so you should have no trouble finding something to interest you.
When you plan your European trip, it is wise to consider your budget. Europe's cost of living can be much higher than other countries so you may find things are considerably more expensive. Also consider the time you have available. If you only have a short time for your trip, you don't want to spend your time sitting on a train.
There are many ways to experience Europe. You may want to simply grab a backpack and explore the continent on your own. You may want to book an escorted tour online or by visiting your travel agent. You may want to organize your own tour group. These are all great options.
However you travel, be sure to plan your trip well in advance. Off- and on-seasons in Europe vary by country, so you may want to make your reservations well ahead of time for the best pricing and selection. You will also want to find out about events occurring in the region you will be visiting. You may or may not want to avoid a city during its annual major festival.
As you prepare for your trip, be sure to check often for changes in travel restrictions and be sure your passport is ready. While Europe is generally quite a safe place, in our uncertain times it is best to be aware of changes in international travel policies. Use common sense when you travel: Be careful with your money and other valuables and be careful where you visit.
A European trip is a once-in-a-lifetime visit you will always remember. What are you waiting for? Why not start booking your trip today?
