Great Items to Make Your Garden the Envy of the Neighbours

By: Dexter Solomon

A lot of us will spend huge amounts of time and effort decorating our properties and making sure that they look absolutely as modern, as tidy, and as luxurious as possible. We do this partly of course because it makes us feel good about ourselves and makes them more pleasant to spend time in, but if we're honest then most of us also do it so that we can impress our guests and so that they'll be envious of our lifestyle and impressed by our knack for interior decorating.

But while many of us decorate our homes to impress visitors, it seems that most of us forget to show this same attention and care when it comes to arranging our gardens which we're happy to leave as just squares of grass with some plants. This hardly makes sense when you consider that your garden is something that gets seen even when you don't have guests by your neighbours and by nosy passers-by so it's important to put the time and effort in here as well to make the really stand out. And there are just as many great features you can get for your garden that will make it look the part. Here are some examples and suggestions...

Swing Bench

This is one that I always wanted as a kid, and to be honest I still rather want one. Swing benches have to be one of the most relaxing and kitsch ways to kick back in the garden, but at the same time they're something that adds a little fun and a little life to the space.

Office Pod

An office pod is a unique idea that's gradually catching on. Here you essentially have a 'pod' in the back of the garden that's like a shed but much more weatherproof and modern looking. Generally these include curved edges and lots of windows for letting in light, and the idea is that you can then plant yourself there to work without any distractions and lots of light around you.

Brush Fencing

Brush fencing is that kind of fencing that looks like the end of a broom made of lots of thing sticks tied together. This has a very Zen kind of feel to it and looks great, but it's also very easy to maintain and won't bow over in the wind. Because it stays looking great, that means that your garden will look good even when it's caught with its (metaphorical) pants down.

Decking is just as practical and creates just as modern a look, but this time goes on the floor. Easy to maintain and looks great all year round.

This is one for the kids, but having a playground in your garden is something that will really make it stand out as a fun place and that will make your children the envy of everyone at school.

Hot Tub

A hot tub is of course something that screams luxury but that isn't too hard to get for your garden. There are few things more relaxing than sitting in the tub snug and warm while it's cold all around you.
