Base your business around something in which you have a lot of interest.

If you truly have an interest in the topic, then you won't see the marketing as a job. It'll be more of a hobby than anything. Why not profit from a hobby? If you have an interest in gaming, for instance, promote strategy guides for games. Put a lot of information about games on your website or blog. Make it a useful place for other gamers to visit. Make sure the landing page is properly put together.

If you're getting the traffic but little to no conversions, then you should make improvements to your landing page. A good landing page should have clear and concise headlines, a good ad copy, benefits of the product, a call to action, and links to other pages to your website. You don't want to stuff it with too much information. It needs to appear neat. Although the ads shouldn't take up the entire page, they should still be noticeable.

Last but not least, you will definitely need a spot in which the visitor can enter his or her email to join your mailing list. This is where you should offer the aforementioned free product. Let them know they can access the free offer if they join your mailing list.

Develop copywriting skills - or hire someone else to take care of copywriting for you.

Even if you have the best looking website in the world, you won't make very many sales if the content is poorly written. This goes beyond impeccable spelling and grammar. You need to know how to write a headline that will attract attention. If you don't have a lot of experience with copywriting, it'll be in your best interest to hire someone who does. A good headline and call to action can yield a lot of conversions, and conversions mean profits.
