The next thing you want to do is choose your Cover Image. On the left side of the screen you will see a list of tasks and one of them is Cover Image, choose Cover Image. The Cover Image screen will appear. Click on Cover Image. Browse to where your cover image is and click on the file. Your cover image will appear on the screen. Scroll down and click Update. Do not click of Table of Contents because we have a Table of Contents in our html file. Next is click on Book Settings and the Book Settings will appear. The only thing that I fill in is in the Book Type. In the drop down choose ebook and then choose Update. The next thing is click on Meta Data. From here you will enter Title, Author, Publisher, on the dropdown Main Subject choose the subject of your ebook. In the description type in or copy and paste the description of your book. Scroll down and choose Update. The last thing is the Guide Properties. This is where you tell where you want the book to start when it is first opened and define the TOC, Table of Contents. This is very important since if this is not done correctly the Menu will not work on the Kindle to go to the beginning or Table of Contents. Choose New Guide Item. A dropdown will appear to enter Title, Type, Filename. Click in Title and type in "Table of Contents". Click in Type and choose TOC. Click in Filename and Browse for your html book file and select it. Now delete everything in the box except the file name and after the file name enter #toc after .html, no spaces. Choose New Guide Item. A dropdown will appear to enter Title, Type, Filename. Click in Title and type in "Introduction". Click in Type and choose START. Click in Filename and Browse for your html book file and select it. Now delete everything in the box except the file name and after the file name enter #start after .html, no spaces. Then choose update. Up at the top, the third icon from the right is Build. Click on Build and the Build screen will appear. Click on Build and hopefully Your ebook file will be built. You may get a few errors such as html cannot be resolved. It is beyond the scope of this book to troubleshoot your html file but if you have done everything said here you should not have any errors.

The third way is using what I consider the best conversion program for converting to multiple formats. That is Calibre found at http://calibre- ebook.com/download Choose your operating system and download. Once you have downloaded and set up the program you are ready to convert your html ebook to PRC or MOBI format.

Double click on the icon for Calibre. Click on the drop down for Add Books and choose Add Books to a Single Directory. After a few minutes your html will be loaded into Calibre. Once it is, Click on the drop down for Convert books and choose Convert Individually. Then a set up window will appear in which you enter such things as Title, Author, Publisher. Also on the left side of the screen is several other settings that make the conversion more concise but I won't go into these since every book is different. Now at the top of the screen on the left is the Input format. For html this should be set as ZIP. On the right the output should be set as MOBI. In the center of the screen you can set a Cover Image. Browse to your Cover Image and select it. Choose OK and your conversion will start. Once it is done, to read your book in Calibre just double click on the file name. Once Down click Remove book to remove it from your library. If you don't want to remove it, leave in the Library.

Format in Nook Format

The best program I have found for converting html to ePub is Sigil that is found at http://code.google.com/p/sigil/downloads/list and choose your operating system to download. Once it is downloaded and set up you are ready to convert to ePub format. Double click on the icon for Sigil and the convert screen will appear. Choose File Open and choose your html file. After a minute or two your file will be loaded into Sigil. Now choose Save As give your file a name, click OK and your file will be converted to ePub.

Format in PDF Format

The best way I have found to convert to PDF is to use Open Office Writer and export to PDF. Double click on Open Office and choose Text. A new, blank window will appear. Choose Open and choose your html file. Choose File-- >Export In the Save-As drop down choose PDF, give it a file name and choose save. Another dialog box will open. You don't have to change anything on this, just choose Export. After a minute or two your html file will be exported to a PDF.

Format in LIT Format

The only way I know of converting an html file to LIT is Calibre as was explained earlier but if you did not read that section, here it is again.

I consider this the best conversion program for converting to multiple formats. That is Calibre found at http://calibre-ebook.com/download Choose your operating system and download. Once you have downloaded and set up the program you are ready to convert your html ebook to LIT format.

On the right the output should be set as LIT.

Marketing Your Book

I won't get too much into marketing because enumerable books have been written on this subject alone. Amazon and Barnes and Noble do a great job at promoting your book for the first few weeks it is published but after than you are going to have to do this heavy lifting yourself. I created a web site that sells all 17 of my books in all four formats. I chose a Wordpress site and a Wordpress plugin fulfulls the shopping cart to sell my books on my site. You can do the same. I bought a domain name and hosting but there are tons of free ways to create websites and Paypal has a free shopping cart.

Conclusion

Well, that's it. I have shown you what I do to create a manuscript, wrap html around this text and then to convert the resulting html to the four most popular eBook formats.
