Easy Tips to Save on Party Supplies and Costumes for the Halloween

By: Richard Curtain

Only a few more weeks to go and it's that time of the year again for hosting Halloween parties and giving candies and treats to children knocking on your door at All Hallows Eve. Halloween is an event that happens only once a year, but lack of planning and preparation can cause your money to go all the way down the drain overnight. The good news is there are steps you can take to help you have a happy Halloween on a budget.

Tip number one: Find deals on brand candies on discount stores. There's no need to break the bank on expensive treats for children asking for treats, because this time of the year, you can find many excellent deals. Most stores by this time are in a hurry to mark down Halloween candy to make way for their Christmas merchandise, and the good news is they do it even before Halloween arrives. Wait a day or two before the date and take advantage of this opportunity and you will surely be able to save a great deal of money on treats. Don't forget to take advantage of coupons as well. If you can use coupons during a sale, you might even be able to get your candies for free!

Tip number two: Carpool. Not too many people realize this, but you can save a lot of money simply by carpooling. If you're going out to attend a Halloween party with some of your neighbors and friends, share rides.

Tip number three: Recycle your Halloween costume. This is definitely an excellent dollar-pinching tip if you're on a tight budget this season. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a pirate or a dementor from those Harry Potter movies year after year. If you don't like the idea of repeating your costume, however, you can try coming up with a fresh look using only stuff you can find inside your wardrobe. Or, if there's this one costume you would love to wear again, try upgrading it to give it a new look. You can do that by wearing accessories to go with it. For instance, if you were a pirate last year, upgrade it by wearing a hook on your left hand this time, or wearing a fake wooden leg.

Tip number four: Save your decors for next year. Your costume is not the only thing you can recycle and reuse. If you want to save big time next year, don't get rid of the decorations you had this year, especially if you've purchased them just recently.

Tip number five: Purchase Halloween supplies online. This may sound cliché, but there is nothing that can help you save more for the Halloween than by choosing to get your party supplies over the internet. Aside from the fact that there are a lot of cheap party supplies online, shopping via the World Wide Web is also convenient and won't require you to spend money on gas. Today, there's just a good number of online party stores that can provide you with affordable costumes and decorations you can use for your Halloween party.
