Selling information products on the internet can be very profitable. One of my favorite products to sell online are e-books. The reason being is that you can produce and distribute them absolutely free.
Coming up with an idea and writing an e-book is a lot easier than most people think. first you will need a subject or a niche to write about. Every body has a hobby or some type of interests that they could write an e-book about, rather it be cooking, home repair,or internet marketing, etc.
I suggest doing some research on your subject matter using google.com or your favorite search engine. To see what type of demand there is for your subject that your thinking about writing about. You can also use forums as a way to do research. They will give you an honest opinion of what they think on your subject matter.
You can also use Amazon.com to do research on a subject. Amazon has a feature where they will allow you to search inside of their books. this is a great way to do research. Just don't copy from the books, as always use your own words.
Now before you begin writing, make sure you have the proper tools.
You can use the Microsoft Word program that came already installed on your computer. I suggest you download a copy of open office at www.openoffice.org it's free to download, and has more features than Microsoft Word.
One of the great features of openoffice is that you have the ability to convert you book into a PDF file (Portable Document File).In your openoffice program you have a free PDF maker.
Once you have finished writing your book, you will need to convert it to PDF format. In openoffice just hit the export as PDF button and it will be exported in PDF form.
Normally the links inside the document will not be clickable when you open up the finished file in adobe reader.
There are a couple of ways around this. the first way is to simply add the entire link within the document so that your clients can simply copy and paste the link them selves to their web browser.
Another way for your clients to be able to download your e-book is to zip the PDF file. When you zip a file your just simply compacting it.
You can use winzip or another alternative is found at www.coffeecup.com. Since some web hosts will not allow you to download exe. files. This will allow your clients to download your e-book.
Should you decide that you want to sell your e-book as a physical printed book. Simply goto www.lulu.com, lulu.com is a full featured online print on demand service that will print 1 book or 10,000 books depending on your specific needs.
You could even sell your book on amazon.com or any other site that sells books. If you decided to go this route you will need an ISBN for your book. Or If you decide to have your book listed in major book stores.
Using lulu.com you can get an ISBN for as low as $34.95.
Now it is up to you to produce your first e-book. I can almost guarantee that after you wite one e-book you will write many more, once you have experience with one the rest are much easier.
Remember selling e-books can be very profitable.
