In today’s world it is the safest way that can successfully transfer the data from one to another trading partner. It can easily transfer electronic as well as business data like purchase order or sell order, paying a bill, or if it is a medicine related company than may be the expiry list etc. so this safest way of transferring data can be used by any sector like shipping, food processing, health care, textiles, banking, construction etc. or in other words any company that belongs to manufacturing or service can use EDI for better and safe transaction.

It is quiet similar to e-mail but technically it includes a lot of difference. It includes electronic data, than transmission, message flow and document format and with the help of the software that can interpret the documents. You can use thousands of times in one day. As per the two trading partner (sender and recipient) requirement and convenience they can chose any technology among the variety of technologies that includes modem (asynchronous and synchronous), e-mail, HTTP, AS1, AS2 and FTP etc.

AS majority trading partners use the Internet for data interchange so standards have emerged. So here with EDI standard it is easy to categories the mandatory and optional information for any particular document. According to the business requirement the subject of importance is different for different organization and one can set according to his suitability, like for a textile manufacturer color and size are the most important information in comparison to weight for a food product manufacturer.

So both the organizations who will send or receive documents with each other knows very well about their documents that to be transmitted and accordingly they can structure on the basis of more or less important information. At the same time big organizations have a number of EDI guidelines for each division.

Both the organization can decide on mutual understanding about the method of transmission and they are absolutely free to opt any one they like. But if we will consider the majority then the answer is usage of a bisync modem through a VAN. Then what is this VAN?

VAN or value added network is the most basic form that acts as a junction or as a regional post office. Before the receiver got the information EDI VAN examines the ‘to’ and ‘from’ information and route the transaction to the recipient EDI VAN Services includes facilities like re-transfer of documents, than third party audit information, and can be your best gateway for transmission, although facilities differ from one EDI VAN Provider to another.

The best thing about EDI is, it can reduce errors, can save time and money too. So it becomes the most popular way of data exchange and in addition to that you can have Discount EDI also.
