The island of Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands - situated just off the coast of Africa. The cuisine you will find when renting villas in Fuerteventura is fairly simple. The arid climate is not suitable for raising many crops, so fish is a mainstay of the local diet. Seafood is prepared in a number of delicious ways. Many recipes rely heavily on the local hot pepper sauce and potatoes. The other main meat source is goat, and the island is famous for its award winning goat's milk cheese, Majorera cheese.
