Newly launched British search engine Oparla is building on its commitment to revolutionise the way we surf the net by offering a direct line to the founder. Showing that communication really is key, the Surrey based engine is making good on its promise to listen to user comments by encouraging account holders to have their say.
Just a few weeks after being launched, Oparla was approached by a large advertising provider to shore up its search based ad inventory. This would be a huge boom to revenue and would help promote the search engine on TV & Radio. While Oparla already had a handful of clients advertising on the search engine, the new provider proposed to provide advertising for every search completed. However, they were not happy with the free prize draw system.
The team at Oparla believe that their customer’s opinion is the key to organic growth and as a new favourite of thousands of internet users, has a responsibility to its users first and foremost. Rather than pull the prize draw to secure the ad deal, Oparla asked its users for their comments and thoughts. Account holders voted in their thousands! The results were unanimous – the prize draw was such a popular initiative that it must stay!
Founder Daniel Jupp said, “It was hugely inspiring to receive so many emails back from internet users who had registered with Oparla. The sentiment was overwhelmingly positive and everyone was in favour of keeping the prize draw. The cash giveaway is easily one of the most popular launch initiatives we’ve seen online so with that in mind, we politely declined the ad deal and have made a commitment to continuing the prize draw for the next three months at least. That means there’s still a maximum of £90,000 to give away!”
Since this first question was put out into cyberspace, Oparla has continued to communicate with its users. Feedback is being used to improve the site each day with the latest initiative taken from user comments the addition of a UK only results tab. This allows users to view results from .co.uk domains, making their search results more relevant to their geographical needs.
Oparla´s ethos is to involve its consumers in each stage of its development. Further user forums, polls and feedback sessions will take place throughout the summer.
