Are Shiny Fabrics And Sequins For You On Prom Night?

By: Gen Wright

Though in most cases you would think the type of dress you wear would be a personal choice, you also have to take into consideration the venue and the way others at the prom will be dressing. You do not want to be the only person there wearing a dress with a shiny fabric and sequins. In addition many proms today are adapting a less formal attitude about dress, so you want to know before you choose your dress the kind of clothing others will be wearing. Another factor to consider is the way you wear your hair - the simpler the style the simpler your dress should be which tends to eliminate shiny fabrics and sequins.

Another consideration when it comes to wearing shiny fabrics is the venue. If the venue is an informal setting, you may want to consider something less eloquent. Keep in mind that an informal venue can have a decoration in an eloquent and elaborate style, so you want to keep that in mind as well. The choice you make has to consider both the venue and the way the staff decorates it for your prom. On the other hand, some venues automatically scream of elegance and should be treated accordingly. This includes places such as banquet rooms in high-class hotels and restaurants.

Your body shape is something else to consider when you try to decide on whether you should wear a shiny fabric with sequins. Whether you buy a sleek or full style, you want to keep in mind that if you are on the heavy side a shiny dress is going to draw attention to your fuller bust and abdominal area when you really want to take the focus off those areas. You may be able to choose one or the other but you do not want to include both and draw attention to those features that are less than perfect. Thus, a full gown in a shiny fabric is acceptable but you want to leave off the sequins or wear sequins on a gown of a different fabric.

The key to looking good at your prom is choosing fabrics that will accentuate the shape of your body and face. Not everyone has the body to wear a shiny fabric with sequins just like not everyone has the body to wear a gown that is completely straight. The choices you make will determine if you looking stunning or drab at your prom, so you want to make sure you give a great deal of thought to the fabric, styling and color of the dress you choose. Whether you choose ankle length or knee length, you want something that looks stunning when you walk into the room.
