When a file is deleted from recycle bin, its contents will not be immediately destroyed. The pointers that direct to the location of the file and folder on the hard drive, are saved in a section near the beginning of the hard drive, and are used by the operating system to compile the directory tree structure.
When a file is deleted, Windows simply marks the hard drive space as being available for use by changing one character in the file table and erasing the pointer, so that the actual file becomes invisible to the operating system, and the file entry won’t be displayed in Windows Explorer.
