Aligning the Blade of Jet Proshop Table Saw 70849K JPS-10TS

By: James Marshell

Following six months of utilization I checked the alignment of the blade to the miter opening. In spite of the fact that it was still close, I decided to make improvements. The instructions in the manual ask you to precisely take note of the amount the blade is misaligned, flip around the saw, relax the 4 trunnion bolts, bump the trunnions into alignments, re fix the bolts, re-position the saw upright, check alignment, then rehash if necessary. I did not follow these directions. Here are the reasons.

The saw is overwhelming and modifying it is not a convenient thing to do. So, I thought immediately there must be a superior way.

When adjusting the blade to the miter opening we are looking at making changes of a fraction of an inch. I didn't see any way I could take note of how far the blade was misaligned while the saw was upright, then flip it upside down and make the required alteration. No one could eyeball the acclimation to the obliged exactness. Having the saw upside down does not permit you to utilize a gage to see whether the changes succeeded in adjusting the blade. So it is a trial and error method.

Each of the four trunnion fasteners (13mm) is fixed to the saw's base utilizing a 13mm nut on the opposite side of the base. By this I mean the trunnion bolts don't fix into a strung gap. This as I would see it, is an outline blemish and JET ought to discard the fixing nuts for a strung gap. It is very hard to get a wrench on these 13mm nuts. Having the saw upside down does not make it any less demanding. Indeed, even with the saw upright you should be ready to have the wrench slip off the fixing nut a few times.

I soon acknowledged, however, that it truly doesn't make a difference. Here is the reason.

The saw's solid metal top is likewise connected to the saw's base. This has been done using 3 bolts. Two of these bolts are effortlessly discovered looking in through windows on either side of the saw close to the front. The third bolt is situated at the middle back. So the vital thing here is that the saw's top and the trunnion are each connected independently to the saw's base.

Since the top and the trunnion are each connected independently to the saw's base, arrangement of the blade to the miter opening can be done 3 ways: 1) by moving the top 2) by moving the trunnion 3) by moving both the trunnion and the top

The principal decision is by a long shot the least demanding. Indeed, I would not be astonished in the event that it is the strategy the fashioners of the saw had planned the whole time. I had the top's miter opening adjusted to the blade inside of .001" after around 20 minutes.
