Advantages of Using Contact Lenses

By: Robert Sevelyn

The most important benefit of the contact lens is definitely the incontrovertible fact that you can bid adieu to it's more corpulent counterpart- the conventional spectacles. Actually, the contact lens is all about aiding your vision while keeping you modern.

The real virtue of contact lenses is for those involved in sports, wet conditions or have to work wearing special headgears. Unlike glasses, contact lenses stay steady even during head movements. With glasses, the vision is typically unstable during movements.

Contact lenses are worn on the cornea and they provide a very normal vision. In case of glasses, the distance between the eye and glass can vary and thus may provide a view that is larger or smaller than the actual image. So such distortion of vision happens with contact lenses. Moreover, contact lenses are very comfortable and leave no marks on the nose. Also, they do not pose any problem of glare or reflection.

As compared to glasses, the vision provided by contact lenses is broader. Since the lens is always sticking to the pupil, looking through the lens becomes inevitable. Specs usually obstruct the view towards the sides but this does not happen with lenses. You can see in all the directions and that too without any problems when you are wearing lenses.

Often weather directions have little effect on the lens vs the spectacles which might need to be cleaned at the tiniest hint of a downpour, snow or fog. What's more, they are very light and will not make you struggle unnecessarily to keep them on or fitted as you may have to do with glasses.

After a cataract operation, contact lenses are more helpful in providing protection to the eyes of the wearer. Moreover, contact lenses are also very helpful in correcting astigmatism problems. They can a\lso correct severe shortsightedness quite easily while thick glasses can make your eyes look small. Even when the visual acuity of the eye is more than 2.5 diopters, contact lenses can offer correction that is impossible to attain with glasses.

The only downside to lenses is that they have to be inserted and removed from the eyes with much precision. However, with regular use, the process becomes much easier over time. Therefore, all aid and done, whether you are looking for better vision or simply a more fashionable replacement for your traditional glasses- the contact lens is your best buy.
