6 Powerful Tips To Increase Your Affiliate Commissions

By: Amuro Wesley

Unlike offline traditional marketing, affiliate marketing does not require coldcalling, dealing with customers or doing face-to-face presentations. Here are 5 powerful tips to increase your affiliate commissions.

1. Knowing Which Best Products To Market

By common sense, you would certainly want to market the products that enable you to earn more as quickly as possible.

But wanting is one thing. Knowing is another.

Besides well-designed sites and product packaging, there are other factors for you to take into consideration before marketing any product. Such as:

A. Do they provide high commissions?

B. Do they fit in with your target audience?

C. Is the competiton low?

D. Are the merchants paying their affiliates on time?

If they do not have any or just one of those, simply look for another affiliate program.

Though there are many affiliate products for you to market. you need to be extremely selective instead of just promoting blindly like most new marketers - including myself initially - do.

2. Generate Free Reports Or Short Ebooks To Distribute From Your Site.

Even when there is a possibility that you are competing with other affiliates in the same niche, you will be able to distinguish yourself by giving free yet valuable content to build trust and rapport first with your prospects before offering them a product.

The content can be reports or short ebooks. Whichever, your content should consist of a series of at least 3 to 5 articles relating to a common topic. It can be affiliate marketing, e-commerce, healthcare, relationship advice etc.

3. Get An Autoresponder To Collect Email Addresses And Build Your List

Secondly, you need to get an autoresponder like Aweber or Getresponse to collect email addresses of those who downloaded your free reports and build your list from there.

They are not just your subscribers but lists of prospects whom you can email more valuable info or offer them products again and again so long as they stayed on your list.

Like offline businesses, most people do not want to buy upon your first offer. So you might want to send out your message more than six times to make a sale. That is why building an email list is extremely vital so that even if they do not buy, you can make the same offer again. Having an autoresponder is like having your own money pipeline.

4. Publish An Online Newsletter Or Ezine.

It is always best to recommend a product to someone you know than a total stranger. This is why publishing your own newsletter is important as this also allows you to build relationships and trust with your subscribers.

This is a great way of providing valuable content with a sales pitch. If you continue doing that, you should be able to build a sense of reciprocity with your readers and lead them to taking up your offer.

5. Request Higher Commissions From Merchants.

If you are already successful with certain campaigns, you can request higher commissions from the merchants whom you have been marketing for.

If the merchant likes you, he or she will likely grant your request. Do bear in mind that you are a zero-risk investment to your merchant. So do not be shy while at the same time be reasonable by looking from the merchant's perspective.

6. Write Compelling PPC Ads.

PPC search engine is the most effective means of advertising online. As an affiliate, you can make a small income just by managing PPC campaigns such as Google AdWords and Overture. Then you should try and monitor them to see which ads are more effective and which ones to dispose of.

But if you are tight on budget, you may try free classified advertising in lists like Backpage and Craiglist which serves as excellent alternative to PPC first.
