5 Best Tips: How to Enjoy Your Holiday Vacation

By: Edward Hanson

Vacations give us a much-needed break from work and responsibilities. It is the time to have fun, discover new adventures, rest and relax. In our fast-paced, hectic schedule and stress-filled lifestyle, we usually overlook the value of these benefits.

The following are the five ways to make sure that you enjoy your holiday vacation.

1. You must always use your vacation time.

Compared to most countries, American employees have less paid vacation days, so itís incredible that some of us actually donít use what little vacation time we have! If you are all about work and no play, you are certainly headed for exhaustion down the road. You canít have a wonderful vacation if you choose not to have one at all.

2. Outline vacation on your own terms.

You don't have to take a trip, spend huge amount of money, or even leave your house to have a holiday vacation. All you need to do is to take a break from your everyday work. If you happen to take a trip on your job, a staycation may be an ideal retreat for you. Or perhaps you wouldlove to spend your free time planting a garden, taking a pottery class, spending time with friends and family, reading a good novelor just listening to the birds sing while you gently swing in your backyard dock. A vacation is a frame of you mind set, not a place or schedule.

3. You must do your careful research.

If you do plan on taking a trip, ensure there are no disagreeable surprises when you get there. You must call and ask in advance to know about things like kid-friendly or pet-friendly rooms, transportation services, climate and most importantly safety. There are various websites and travel books that provide all the important information to make your trip a memorable one. Or, you can take the old-fashioned methods and book your travel arrangements through an experienced and well-informed travel agent or tour company.

4. Relax and enjoy.

Don't treat your holiday vacation like a work project. Too much planning, consolidating, list-making and over-scheduling give you no time to relax and enjoy. You must get out of your work mode and kick back. Donít feel and think as if every day needs a routine Ė unless you are on a group tour and all you have to do is show up. You need to try to space out planned activities to every other day with different days off for whatever you feel like doing in the moment. You don't want to be drained from your holiday vacation when it ends.

5. Leave work behind.

The whole point of holiday vacation is to take a good break from your busy work, not to have thoughts and messages from work mixing in with your dipping in the pool or with your thirst-quenching Mai Tai on the beach. You must leave you laptop behind. This is your perfect time to put yourself first, renew your spirit and have a wonderful holiday vacation experience!

Travel should never be a problem especially with your beloved travel gears like the space bags and the digital luggage scale.
